The Custom Process

We make it easy to bring your ideas to life!

1. Quick Introductions

To get your custom invitations started, send us a message with the date of your event, a quick overview of your needs and vision for your invitations. (If you don’t have an idea for your invitations yet, that’s okay too! We’ll get that figured out together.) Also, let me know your preferred contact method (we can email, chat, or meet in person if you’re located nearby!)

2. DOWN TO BUSINESS

After your initial message, I’ll contact you within a day or two to schedule a meeting or phone call (or I’ll just send you an email with some more specific questions, if that’s your requested contact method.) From there, we will begin to discuss specific ideas, review and sample colors, paper types, printing methods, and answer any other questions you may have. From this, I’ll create a quote for your unique needs.

3. DESIGN AND PROOFING

After a quote has been approved and a 50% deposit has been paid, I’ll begin work on your invitations! Depending on the design complexity, this process can take 1-2 weeks before your receive your initial digital proof. From your feedback, I’ll make up to three rounds of digital revisions, free of charge, with additional revisions at $25 per proof. (At this point, please take extra care to proofread your invitations. Unfortunately, I cannot take responsibility for errors or discrenpancies once your invitations have gone to print.) In all, this process can take anywhere between 2-6 weeks.

4. TO THE PRESS

Once your digital proof has been approved and your remaining balance has been paid, you will receive a final printed proof to see what your invitations will look like printed and assembled. From there, you’ll sign a print release, and you’ll have your invitations 2-4 weeks later!

Read up on some helpful information before you start your order!

How Does pricing work?

As all Banded Arrow invitations are unique and custom-made, with different amounts, colors, paper, pieces, and printing technique, each quote is given on an individual basis. To give a general baseline, 100 digitally printed color invitations with an RSVP postcard, and envelope will be around $4 per set. Quotes include initial design work, three rounds of revision, printing, and shipping/postage (if applicable). If you have a specific budget, we can likely accommodate you as long as you let us know when placing your order.

When do I have to pay?

After a quote has been given and agreed upon by, a 50% non-refundable deposit will be required before design work can begin. The final 50% will be required after the digital proof has been approved and printing can begin.

When Should I start planning my invitations?

FOR FORMAL WEDDING INVITATIONS

To ensure your invitations are done on time, please contact me at least 6 months prior to your wedding. This will allow for 2-6 weeks of designing and proofing and another 2-4 weeks for printing and shipping to you. You will likely want to mail your invitations 2-3 months in advance of your wedding.

FOR SAVE-THE-DATES

Plan to contact me about a year in advance of your wedding for save-the-dates. Save-the-dates will require around 2 months of design and printing time. You should plan to mail save-the-dates between 6-12 months before your wedding.

FOR OTHER EVENTS

For all other events, please contact me around 3-4 months in advance. Custom event stationery will require around 1-2 months of design and printing time. You should plan to mail these invitations about a month before your event, although this can vary.

Can you do rush orders?

Possibly. This can only be determined on a case-by-case basis, depending on how soon you need the stationery, how big the scope of the project is, etc. If you have a rush order you need to begin, please contact me right away so we can determine a timeline to get your products to you.

Why Screenprinting?

Screenprinting is a intensive method of printing, where ink is pushed through a mesh screen to create solid, flat images. Each color is laid down, one screen at a time, creating beautifully simple and vibrant designs. While often reserved for posters and fabrics, screenprinting creates extraordinarily rich colors and velvety textures for paper goods, not found with other printing techniques. The paint-like inks are mixed in-house allowing for amazing variety and control of the colors, and the opaque quality of the ink means it can be printed on all colors of paper (like bright red or dark purple). However, screenprinting is not appropriate for all styles of design, and Banded Arrow offers traditional digital printing as well.

WhAt are my paper/Color options?

Most Banded Arrow creations are printed on French Paper cover stock, which is available in a wide variety of weights and colors. However, we are open to various other paper types, depending on the needs of the situation. As far as color goes, we can print up to four spot colors for screenprinted invitations on most paper colors, and all variety of CMYK and spot colors on light colored paper when printing digitally.

can you do the wording on my invitations?

Yes, and I will try to match the tone of your invitations as best as I can. However, please keep in mind that if you need to change wording, it does count as a proof revision, so if you have specific wording in mind, please let me know beforehand. I will also gladly consult on what wording I think sounds best before proofing your initial design as well, if you have several ideas in mind.

can address and mail my invitations?

Yes, but with some limitations. Please contact me with the details of your event, and we can discuss whether it will be feasible for your event.

I saw this exact invitation I want on Pinterest/etsy/instagram. Can you make it for me?

While I can try to match tone and style of invitations that you like or that inspire you, I won't remake the work of some one else. If you are interested in that exact design, you should contact the designer and have them produce it for you if possible.

What about returns?

For all proofed and printed custom stationery, Banded Arrow cannot accept returns unfortunately. If you receive items that are damaged or lost in the mail, please contact us within 72 hours, and we will send you replacements.

About alyssa

My name is Alyssa Nutile, and I run Banded Arrow Stationery Company. For as long as I could hold a crayon, I've been coloring, drawing, cutting, pasting, and creating. The idea for a stationery company originated while I majored in art in college. I could never find a stationery that felt like "me," so I started making my own. I designed my own wedding invitations, which branched out into designing for other acquaintances. In 2014, I finally took the leap, bought a screenprinting kit, and started Banded Arrow officially.

I love pretty colors and bold lines and shapes. I love simple patterns. I love design that doesn't take itself too seriously. I love to smile and enjoy the little things. And these are the ideas I strive to incorporate into every Banded Arrow creation.

When I'm not designing and printing, you'll find me hiking with my husband and our dog, Sirius, binge-watching Supernatural on Netflix, reading up on current events or design blogs, and drinking lots of coffee!
