It's a busy day in the studio (aka. my sunroom). My furry assistant and I are producing a new set of prints. You could say it's just in time for Sweetest Day (is that even a real holiday?), but I like to think you can send your sweetheart a greeting card anytime.
This particular card is my first go at a four color print. Getting a finished print with several layers requires trial and error, color testing, measuring, and a several cups of coffee. I always have to go through a few test prints before I end up with one I really like. Even though this card only has four colors printed on it, I mixed six or seven colors before I found the perfect gradient. (Fortunately for me, screenprinting ink keeps for awhile, so I'll be able to keep my unused colors for other projects!)
The trickiest part of printing on black paper is the fingerprints! Even the slightest pigment on my hands will leave little marks all over the cards, so it's prudent to keep lots of paper towels handy.
And here it is: the finished product! A 5.5"x4.25" greeting card, printed on black French Paper cardstock. The inside has a layer of cream cardstock to write your own notes, and comes with a cream A2 envelope.
For a closer look, you can check it out in the shop.
Thanks for stopping by! Happy Friday!
